My career started 20 years ago when I took the first crucial step in becoming a paramedic.
I started working as a paramedic in my second year of medical school, and decided later that
emergency medicine is what I want to do. Throughout the years, my experience in the emergency
department and prehospital care, as well as my work in first aid squad, have sustained my interest in
this field. Now, SMURD, which is Romanian acronym for Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation
and Extrication, has become my second home. SMURD deals with the worst emergency cases, and it’s
based on the transfer of a fully-equipped medical unit to the site where the critical patient is, in order
to provide qualified emergency medical assistance
For dynamic specialities such as emergency medicine, teamwork training and simulations provide a
powerful method for moving healthcare systems toward increased levels of quality and safety.
That’s why being an assessor in WRC, is a great honour and an opportunity to complete my
experience and training.
